Program Description

Open to professional groups within the health care sector, the MSc in Public Health: Excellence in Health Care Management provides an academically challenging and stimulating study of quality management within health care. In an increasingly competitive and financially driven healthcare environment managers need to balance financial responsibilities, competitive pressure and human resource needs in an attempt to take rational economic decisions about the resources made available to them. Furthermore, with the impressive growth of this sector in the Middle East there is a critical need to acquire formal managerial and organizational skills, to ensure sustainability of this growth This program is designed to equip managers and fresh graduates with practical managerial skills. The program has been developed through a blend of theory and practical insights, which seek to give a total, integrated perspective on the factors that, support the development of Managers, doctors, nurses and other health care professionals understanding the importance of achieving excellence in health care services.

The MSc in Public Health Excellence in Health Care Management allows participants to continue working full-time while pursuing the degree, and to interact with peers from across the world

Program Aims

The program aims to provide a high quality postgraduate education which is intellectually rigorous and up-to-date as well as relevant to the needs of existing and future managers, executives and clinicians in the health care sector.

1. Develop an innovative program that reviews the modern concepts of public health and healthcare management, health systems theories, services and operations.
2. Provide learners with the fundamentals and contemporary concepts of TQM and principles of Excellence and their applications in public health and health care management.
3. Improve the skills and abilities of the learners to help them to face challenging issues in public health and healthcare management using IT infrastructure and bio-data.
4. Provide healthcare learners with knowledge to implement policy changes and establish facilities that have positive impact on the health of the populations, based on international standards and ethical values.
5. Provide learners with knowledge on how to manage resources and operations in health.
6. Develop an understanding of economics, finance, marketing and resources related to health issues.

6. Analyze the various health systems and adapt the most operational one to meet the needs of the populations.
