Professor Khalid Hafeez , Dean of e-School of Business and Quality Management

Professor Khalid Hafeez Siddiqui is the Dean of e-School of Business & Quality Management at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University. His earlier appointments include Readership in Operations Management and founding Director for the Centre for Ethnic Entrepreneurship and Management at the University of Bradford UK, Director Part-time MBA at the Sheffield Business School, Course Director for the suites of MSc Programs in Organisational Development & Consultancy, MSc Systems Management and Consultancy and the world’s first ever MSc in Knowledge Management & Consultancy. He has also served as Lucas Senior Research Fellow at the Cardiff University UK. In his latest positions he has served as a Professor and Yorkshire Forward Knowledge Transfer Champion helping to develop entrepreneurial capacity of regional SME’s. Professor Hafeez has edited many special issues and conference proceedings, and have published more than 100 technical articles in world class journals such as Journal of TQM & Business Excellence, Int J. Quality & Standards. Int. J. Production Economics, Int J. of Production Research, Int. J. of End User Computing, Journal of Applied Behavioural Sciences, IEEE Engineering Management, Journal of Computing and Operations Research, and Journal of Operations Research Society Special issue on Knowledge Management and Intellectual Capital, Int. J. Logistics Economics and Globalisation, and Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management to name a few. He has supervised more than 10 PhD students to successful completion. He has obtained many professional and academic qualifications including:

Dr. Syed Aziz Anwar, Director of Undergraduate Studies

Dr. Syed Aziz Anwar is Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed eUniversity, Dubai. He has over thirty years of experience of designing and delivering courses in MBA, M.Sc. and BBA programs in New Zealand, Germany, Brunei, Malaysia, Nigeria, India, Bahrain, Kuwait, and UAE.

Dr. Syed’s Ph.D. thesis was evaluated by a jury of the Commission of the European Union, Brussels. Following a positive advice from the jury, the thesis was sponsored by the Commission for publication in the UK in the form of a book, ‘The European Community and Indo-British Trade Relations’ (Gower, England, 2003). The British Council, London selected him as a younger social scientist in 1979 to do post-doctoral research at institutions of higher learning in the UK.

Dr. Syed has extensive consulting experience in strategic marketing management and international business development. Past clients include Toyota Brunei, HSBC Brunei, JKR Brunei, and United Nations’ International Trade Center.

Dr. Syed’s research papers and case studies have been published in books and refereed scholarly journals in USA, UK, Malaysia and India. Dr. Syed is on the editorial board of the Journal of Teaching in International Business, USA, Journal of Transnational Management, USA and Journal of International Business and Entrepreneurship Development,UK. He is the Editor of International Journal of Excellence in Tourism, Hospitality and Catering, published by HBMeU.

Dr. Keenan Crane, Assistant Professor

Keenan Crane, Ph.D. (Kenni), internationally experienced in individual, group, and organizational development, uses a systems approach to help managers improve performance and strengthen business relationships while going through change.

For 20 years Dr. Crane has coached leaders in Fortune 500 corporations, family businesses and not-for-profit organizations to develop leadership, interpersonal and social skills while facilitating a smooth transition during corporate and cultural changes. Her ability to help manage change results in a greater integration with customers and clearer alignment of business objectives. Her background includes a successful career as director of Organization and Management Development at CIGNA Property & Casualty, where she helped restore distressed profit centers through leadership, coaching, counseling and group development.

In addition to her Ph.D. in Organization and Group Development, she holds a Masters Degree in Experimental Psychology and a Masters Degree in Counseling/ Human Relations and a B.A. in Psychology and Pre-med (magna cum laude). Before joining HBMEU she has been professor at Villanova University, Drexel University and West Chester University, USA.

Dr. Crane’s areas of expertise include Executive Coaching / Counseling, Group / System Effectiveness, Change Management, Leadership Assessment and Development, Culture and Needs Analysis - OD & Training, Individual and Group Effectiveness, 360° Feedback Assessments and Program Design and Customization.

Dr Sanjai Parahoo, Assistant Professor

Dr Sanjai Parahoo is an Assistant Professor of Management at the e-School of Quality and Business Management at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University. He taught management and marketing at graduate level at the University of Mauritius and the Université de l’Ocean Indien from 1990 to 2009. Dr. Sanjai Parahoo served as the Coordinator of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) Working Group on Distance Education and Open Learning (WGDEOL) from 2006-2009. Dr Parahoo has been actively involved in commissioned research studies in various African countries. He is a member of the Franco-Australian Centre for International Research in Marketing. His research interests include: structural equation modelling of consumer behaviour; customer loyalty; customer satisfaction; and service quality.

Dr Khaled Ahmed Mohamed Sabry, Assistant Professor

Dr Khaled Ahmed Mohamed Sabry is an Assistant Professor at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, Dubai. He has over 10 years of teaching experience in the UK and UAE with face-to-face and e-learning platform focus for Graduates and Undergraduates. His teaching experience and research stretches from Brunel University (UK) to Abu Dhabi University (UAE), Al-Ain University (UAE) and the British University in Dubai. His teaching experience includes: Database Management Systems, Information Systems Analysis and Design, IT Project Management, HCI, Knowledge Management Systems, Management Information Systems, e-Commerce and E-Business. Dr Khaled held academic capacities as an Assistant Professor, a Dean Representative, and Campus/College Coordinator and has acquired administrative experience as well as teaching experience.

Dr Khaled obtained his PhD in 2005 from Brunel University, Department of Information Systems, West London, United Kingdom. The title of his research was: Interactive Learning Systems for Higher Education: Learning Styles and Students’ Attitude. He obtained his BSc (Hons) in Information Systems in 2000 from Brunel University, United Kingdom. He was an active member of the Virtual University Project for Brunel University Research Group between 2001 and 2005. Dr Khaled’s research papers have been published in refereed journals from the UK and Europe. His research interests are in Dynamic and Interactive Information Systems; Interactive Learning Systems design; and Human-Computer Interaction.

Dr. Abu Umar Faruq Ahmad, Assistant Professor

Dr. Abu Umar Faruq Ahmad is an Assistant Professor of Islamic Finance at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, Dubai. He received his LLM (Hons) and PhD at the University of Western Sydney, Australia, with two prestigious University wide research scholarships for his doctoral study in which he earned an ‘A’ (high distinction) for the quality of his research. His study preceded a declaration by the Federal Government of Australia “To Accommodate Islamic Banking Products and Services while still protecting consumers”.

Dr. Dr Faruq has been lecturing on the subject of Islamic banking and finance in multi-disciplinary courses at tertiary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for the past twelve years. He has published over 12 research articles in high quality academic refereed journals. He has also published book chapters, conference proceedings, and presented papers at over 30 conferences held in Asia, Australia, America, Europe and Africa. His book, entitled Theory and Practice of Modern Islamic Finance: The Case Analysis From Australia (ISBN: 1599425173, pp.322) was recently published by Brown Walker Press, USA, while his second book, entitled Developments in Islamic Banking Practice: The Experience of Bangladesh has been accepted for publication by Universal Publishers, USA.

Dr. Faruq has been on the Editorial Advisory Board of two Emerald (UK) published journals - International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management and Journal of Islamic Accounting and Business Research. In Addition, he acts as an ad-hoc reviewer of American Journal of Islamic Social Sciences, Thunderbird International Business Review, Review of Islamic Economics and Islamic Economic Studies.

Dr. Dr Faruq’s research interests in the field of Islamic finance include the following areas:

  • Relevance of modern Islamic finance in multi-cultural societies
  • Regulation, supervision, ethics and Shari`ah audit
  • Shari`ah compliance and innovation
  • Use of wa`ad (undertaking) in Islamic financial engineering
  • Application of Islamic legal maxims to financial transactions
  • The need of incorporating Islamic finance courses at different levels

Dr.  Iman  El  Shenawy, Assistant Professor

Dr Iman L. ElShenawy, Ph.D.is an Assistant Professor at the e-School of Business and Quality Management at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University. She has over 8 years of experience in research teaching, designing and delivering courses for Graduate, Undergraduate and training programs in the USA, and Egypt.

Dr Iman obtained here Ph.D. degree from Washington State University, USA. Her research specialization is in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management and Entrepreneurship, in addition she has 2 Master Degrees in International Business and Strategic Management from WSU (USA) and Suez Canal University (Egypt) respectively.

Dr Iman’s teaching profile includes Research Methods and Literature Review at the doctoral level. At the MBA level it includes Entrepreneurship, International Management, Research Methods and Strategic Management. For the Undergraduate level it includes International Management, Strategic Management, Principles of Management, Entrepreneurship and small business administration, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, and International Management.

Dr Iman’s research papers and intellectual contributions have been published in referred journals, and conference proceedings in the USA and Egypt. Her recent research interests are in negotiations, growth of small business and top management team dynamics.

She served as an Assistant professor in the USA. She participated in and chaired a number of committees for curriculum development and students services. She is an active member of many international academic institutions.
